Our Charollais Flock

Castellau Aristocrat

The 180 ewe Charollais flock was established in 1981 and has gained recognition over the years as one of the top flocks in the UK. We have always felt that the charollais breed offers exceptional length and growth rate which are crucial traits for the modern day terminal sire. Two of the main influences on the flock in the early days were Crogham Hannibal and Findatie Queen O’ The Ring. In more recent years Castellau Aristocrat has left his mark on the flock, along with Foulrice Buccaneer and Rutland Dillon, producing quality females and outstanding ram lambs.

Logie Durno Hercules

The Flock, now Signet recorded, is run in two groups. Approximately a third are lambed in December/January to produce quality stock with the pedigree breeder in mind. The remainder are lambed in April to produce shearling rams for our on farm tup sale. Several of the top breeding females are ear marked each year for embryo  transplant work in order to maximise the productivity of successful bloodlines. Logie Durno has achieved consistantly high prices over the years, most notably with a pen of ten ram lambs averaging £1,141 at the Wocester premier sale. In 2008 our top price was for Logie Durno Hercules which sold to Adrian Davies (Glyn Coch) and David Curran (Wernfawr) for 3,000 gns.

Logie Durno Earl of Dunbar

Over the years we have achieved much success in the show ring. Most notably we have won the breed Championship at The Royal Highland Show on three occasions and stood reserve five times. The consistent production of top quality breeding stock over the years has resulted in a high demand for Logie Durno stock throughout the United Kingdom - from the Outer Hebrides to Devon, The Isle of Man and Ireland.

Semen and quality stock always available.
